259 Rhino Poached in South Africa in First Six Months of 2022


 In the first six months of 2022, 259 rhinos were poached for their horn in South Africa as reported by SANPARKS.

Recent rhino poaching statistics indicate a shift away from the Kruger Park and toward private reserves in KwaZulu-Natal, where the bulk of rhinos have been murdered this year.Between January and June 2022, there were 10 more rhino poached in the nation than in the first six months of 2021(249). From January through the end of June 2022, 82 rhinos were poached in the Kruger National Park for their horns.

2022 Poaching records reveal that 210 rhinos have been poached on state land and 49 in privately held parks. As previously stated, KwaZulu-Natal was the heaviest impacted during this period, losing 133 rhinos. This is more than three times the number of rhinos murdered in the first six months of 2021

School Of Tourism climbs higher

The University of Johannesburg's School of Tourism and Hospitality has been named one of the #TOP10 institutions in the Shanghai Ranking 2022 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in Hospitality & Tourism Management. This is a tremendous leap from 34th in 2017 to 9th in 2022.

Garden Route District Municipality forms a collaboration with Wesgro, SATSA, and FEDHASA, as well as Garden Route Local Tourism Offices.

On the 11th of July 2022 the Garden Route municipality annnouced a collaboration with Wesgro, SATSA, and FEDHASA, as well as Garden Route Local Tourism Offices.The collaboration is in line with mission and vision that was set by the Destination Garden Route & Klein Karoo project which is to collaborate towards promoting tourism with the Garden Route & Klein Karoo area

Marketing and promotion, events, strategic initiatives (including cruise and air route development), and tourism are all areas of collaboration with the goal of executing collaborative marketing and development activities, as adjusted from time to time by the Steering Committee.

The partnership was launched at the same time as the Sustainable Tourism Cluster workshop was established in accordance with the Garden Route Growth and Development Strategy and the seven key clusters that were designated.
